Makarska Riviera spread between Split area and Dubrovnik area, About 60 kilometers long ( correctly from Brela on the north till Gradac on the south).
The main atraction ate the wonderful beaches, some of which are several kilometres long, coming with line of pine trees that make shade in hot summer days.
Further another great atraction of Makarska Riviera is Biokovo mountain and its slopes. Biokovo is protected park of nature with unique plant life and numerous animal species but also excursion site with many marked mountaineers paths- it takes half an hour drive from makarska to the peaks of the Biokovo. The peaks feature spetacular view to the city and the surrounding islands.
The capital of the Riviera is Makarska, built around a deep sheltered bay.
Summer in townlets of Makarska Riviera invites you for the swimming in turqoise sea, hang out on squares, on the terraces of the resturants and konoba's that offer food with traditional recepies including olive oil, domestic wine, fresh fish an seafood.
Location of the Makarska Riviera makes it great base if you want to visit sites as Dubrovnik, Split or Trogir. Trips to Island are organised daily to Hvar, Brac, Korčula and Mljet. There are regular excursions also to Bosia and Herzegovina - Medjugorje and Mostar.
From Makarska there are also excursions to the inland, nearby Cetina river where main atractions are rafting and conoe safari
Makarska has more than 2750 hours of sun each year and the air temperature above 20°C from July to September. During these same months, the crystal-clear sea also averages a temperature of above 20°C.
